Pocket attitude. Don't stop.

Even if the destination seems to move farther away and the climb gets steeper, don't stop. Sigiriya Rock, Sri Lanka, november 2018.

Some days, everything seems just a little harder. I don’t know if it depends on the moon, our hormonal cycle, or poor Murphy, who always gets the blame. For whatever reason, sometimes our dreams seem to drift further away. But let me tell you—it’s just an illusion. You’re getting closer every day.

In this post, I will explain to you why you shouldn't stop now. If you were waiting for a sign to keep fighting for your goal or your dream, this is it. Keep reading.

The secret to keep going forward is to begin.

ANTOINE DE SAINT-EXUPÉRY

Trust me

It's a risky request, I know. Statistically, we probably know each other (because of the readers I usually have on my blog), but maybe you've never entrusted me with your biggest dream. Perhaps you haven't even taken the time to think about it.

I invite you to do it today. To do it now. Imagine yourself on your deathbed. (Geez, what a cheerful post, right? Just give me a minute, and I'll explain). Imagine you're in your final moments of life—how would you wish to have lived? What is that one thing you wish you had done or taken a risk on? How would you like to be remembered by your loved ones?

It's only in those moments of extreme rawness, in the face of the end, that many realize what truly gave meaning to their existence. Let's not wait that long. Let's do it today. If you don’t know yet, think about who you would want to have been..

You've Got It

Now that you've made it this far, you've already done the hardest part. You know what you want. I’d bet a glass of red wine that most people around us don’t.

Do you know the problem? When you don’t know what you want, you become much more manipulable. And big companies and society, in general, love that. The system is designed so that we don't have time for what truly matters while we work in jobs that don’t excite us just to buy things we don’t need.Think about it.

Now that you know what you want, map out a plan. Start at the end if you want, and then work backward. What steps will you need to take to get there? Maybe you need to enroll in a course, travel, read a book, or reach out to someone who knows about the subject and can help you out.

Latent Heat

If you already knew your dream or biggest project before reading this post, first of all—congratulations! Now, let me tell you why, even if it feels like you've been making no progress for months or years, you shouldn’t stop.

When I studied Chemistry, one of the concepts we learned was latent heat. I’m an expert at going off on tangents when I explain things, but I promise I’m getting to the point . Latent heat is the energy a substance needs to change its phase—for example, from liquid to gas (like seawater turning into a cloud) or from solid to liquid (like ice melting into coffee).

The key to latent heat is that it accumulates without any apparent change. The temperature neither rises nor falls, and there's no visible sign that energy is building up—until suddenly, boom! The phase change happens, and that’s when you notice it. But it wasn’t the last “packet” of energy that caused the change; it was the accumulation of all the energy beforehand.

If you’re working day by day toward your dream, that’s exactly what you’re doing. You’re building up that latent heat, the kind that isn’t visible but is still there. Every rejection and every disappointment along the way is part of that energy you need to accumulate. So don’t stop today—you might be just on the verge of seeing the change.

Many of the greatest things in the world have been achieved by people who kept going when it seemed like there was no hope.
