If you also feel like someone hit the x2 speed button on summer, don't worry. There's nothing like having a trip in the works to lift your spirit.
This August's recommendation is to go to a destination where you'll also have the opportunity to experience something new. Or, if not, enjoy a few days by the sea while getting some exercise. Don't know where I'm going with this? Keep reading; you're going to like it.
Don't worry; there are millions of waves out there. Take your time, and your wave will come.

What is the route?
This time we are going to Faro, the capital of the Portuguese region of Algarve. Famous for its incredible beaches, this coastal area offers some of the best surf camps. Whether you're a beginner or looking to perfect your skills, they cater to all levels.
I went to a surf camp on the Cantabrian coast a few years ago surfcamp and loved it. I can't wait to do it again, and I think the Portuguese Algarve is an ideal location.
Let's see how the flights work out and check the schedules. As usual, in the deals I usually find, all the flights shown are with the low-cost airline par excellence, Ryanair.
- Palma - Barcelona: We fly with a layover in Barcelona. If you're not from the islands, that's some money saved. Departure is at 12:45 pm on a Friday. This time, we won't have much time, but I also don't enjoy spending too much time at airports. Price = 21,26€, with the resident discount, it would be around €11.
- Menorca - Barcelona: Since it's my future home, I decided to look for the route from the island of lighthouses and wind too. In this case, our flight departs at 8:45 am, so we have a bit more time during the layover to grab something to eat or browse the airport shops. Price = 16,22€, and with the discount, it's a real bargain.
- Barcelona - Faro: We fly to Faro at 4:10 pm on a short flight of just about an hour's duration. We arrive at 5:05 pm with plenty of time to either pick up a rental car to head to our surfer accommodation or explore the city a bit. We'll have six full days to take a surf course, maybe even add the surf + yoga combo. I think adding some beach and nearby town exploration would be a great idea because we have some time. Price = 17,61€
- Faro - Barcelona: Our return flight is at 5:30 pm, also via Barcelona. We arrive at our destination at 8:25 pm, with time to catch a flight to Palma or have dinner and spend a night there if we prefer a more relaxed pace. If our final destination is Menorca, we won't have any choice but to stay overnight in Barcelona. Price = 47,37€
You've convinced me, when do we leave?
What better way to end the summer and prepare for autumn than with this nature-focused sports trip?
In September, it's not as scorching hot, and there are fewer people around because the (dreaded and eagerly awaited by both children and parents) school year has already begun.
The flight dates are from September 15th to 22nd, 2023. You have just under a month to request your vacation, so hurry and start organizing!
When I was looking at which surf camp to choose, I especially liked the Wave SurfcampIt offers three glamping options, a skate park, a volleyball court, ping-pong tables, and a variety of activities. They have weekly packages that include accommodation, surf lessons, and meals ranging from €519 in the low season to €619 in the high season, which is when we'll be going.
Feelings are like waves. We can't stop them from coming, but we can choose which one to surf.

I hope that with this fantastic plan for next month, all your worries about September approaching will disappear. If there's no way you can take 7 days off, don't worry. In the next post, I'll suggest a long weekend wine tour. And if that doesn't work, you can still join the trip I proposed in the last post.
See you soon and happy reading!
